"I love getting to know people so I can understand exactly what they want to achieve with permanent make up, and then using my skills to ensure their tattooed area is beautifully, naturally perfect.
I love knowing that the results of my expertise continuously help women feel confident and better about themselves.
It’s so important for all my clients to understand everything about the cosmetic tattooing process.
Getting to know you is a big part of my service and spending time answering any questions you may have is a very reassuring part of the journey.
Together, we can create a plan that will give you exactly the look you are trying to achieve."
Does cosmetic tattooing hurt?
You will be very comfortable. I apply a topical numbing cream first and then use another anaesthetic during the treatment.
What is the difference between this and a normal tattoo?
A normal tattoo is created using ink. We use a water soluble pigment. Normal tattoos are applied using a heavy duty machine. As a cosmetic tattooist, I use a lovely, little delicate one for the face.
Is it noticeable?
When I apply permanent makeup onto a client I only ever want to enhance natural beauty, so no, it is not dramatically noticeable. But I can guarantee that people will tell you time and time again you look so well!
How will cosmetic tattooing or micro blading make me look younger?
When cosmetic tattooing or micro blading is performed beautifully by a professional, the result is very natural. I am able to give back shape, symmetry, colour, lines and shading. The results really do make you look and feel younger and better about yourself.
How long does cosmetic tattooing last?
Cosmetic Tattooing lasts anywhere from 3-5 years, at which time it starts to fade and lose its definition. At this stage you can have a ‘touch up’, where we redeposit the colour, possibly amend the shape (if we want to), and the cost decreases.
Can I get my eyebrows, eyes and lips tattooed on the same day?
YES! In fact, I recommend doing just that! If you are wanting all procedures performed I think it’s best to do it altogether, as this way there is just one healing time.
Can I wear makeup straight afterwards?
You cannot apply makeup to any of the areas for 4 days, although we do have a few sneaky little tricks of the trade which I can pass on though.
What if I love the way I do my makeup and I'm scared Rachael won't do it as well?
This is an apprehension often heard by cosmetic tattooists. The solution is simple! You just draw in your area to be tattooed and Rachael performs her magic straight over the top!
Does the tattooing have to be dark?
Not at all! When first applied, the work will appear to be 30-40% thicker and darker for 4 days, after which it peels and the colour and look we have discussed is revealed.
I'm blonde - can I still have my eyebrows and eyeliner tattooed?
Most definitely yes! In fact, I master in this. We have a beautiful range of blonde inks to choose from and we use charcoal around the eyes.
What if I don't like the end result?
The consultation stage of our process is very important. Everyone is different, and I am very particular and conservative. By building a rapport I get to know you. We discuss your desired outcome in length to ensure you do love the end result.
How do I pick the right tattooist to perform my work?
This is a really important part of the process for you. Ring the tattooist, have a chat and ensure you can relate to them. I always encourage my ladies to come and meet me, in particular if they are quite apprehensive. It is quite reassuring to meet your tattooist and build a rapport together if you are concerned.
How many years of experience should a cosmetic tattooist have?
This is a tricky question, as everyone has to start somewhere. I would suggest a more mature tattooist for a more mature woman though (a little more age identifiable). I have been Cosmetic Tattooing for over 14 years now and have been contracted to salons throughout Melbourne to perform their tattooing.
Should I price shop for cosmetic tattooing?
This is your face. Do not price shop. Cosmetic Tattooing is not something you want to play around with. I often say'GOOD BROWS AREN'T CHEAP AND CHEAP BROWS AREN'T GOOD. Dont be ignorant this is your face, travel if you need to, save up and pay for the best, and you will just love the results.
What is feathering?
Feathering is a technique for tattooing eyebrows. It is very fine and mimics the fine hair stokes. Feathering is fantastic for eyebrows that are sparse or gappy. The results (when done well) are divine, this truly an art.
